Nursing Executive Leadership at a Healthcare Organization

The University of Arkansas has created an online masters level dual-degree program to prepare nurses for executive leadership roles in healthcare. The title of the program is the Doctor of Nursing Practice-Executive Master of Business Administration Dual-Degree Program (DNP-EMBA). Courses will start during the summer of 2023 and the application deadline is April 1, 2023.
The University of Arkansas DNP-EMBA executive leadership program is designed for master's prepared, licensed advanced practice nurses. The goal of the program is to combine advanced nursing practice skills with executive leadership competencies.
The University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions and the Sam M. Walton College of Business are collaborating to launch this dual-degree program which allows nurses to earn two diplomas simultaneously: a Doctor of Nursing Practice and an Executive Master of Business Administration.
Applicants must have a master's degree in nursing and be a licensed advanced practice nurses in one of four areas: certified nurse midwife, certified registered nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner.
The University of Arkansas DNP-EMBA program prepares nurses for the highest leadership positions. Examples of such positions within the healthcare system include but are not limited to Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operational Officer, Vice President and President. These are examples of nurse leadership roles which set policies, identify patient care needs, make decisions within the organization, impact various organization levels.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The Executive Master of Business Administration program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
