Arizona is the sixth-largest state in the US, and contains large amounts of federal- and state-protected land. Although much of it is desert, Arizona also has recreational activities such as skiing, water sports, and golfing! Arizona's population has been steadily climbing upwards for decades, and today it has attracted many national and international businesses and the prosperity that comes with them.
Several nursing programs in the state focus on the needs of rural patients and especially on the special needs of the Native American population. These programs actively reach out to the Native American community with clinics and education. The demand for nurses in Arizona continues to rise with the population. Between July 2001 and February 2005, the state saw a 14% increase in the number of active RN's. There are around 46,520 practicing RN's and 9,840 practicing LPN's in the state.
