Honolulu is the capital and largest city of the Hawaii. In the Hawaiian language, honolulu means "sheltered bay" or "place of shelter." The census-designated place is located along the southeast coast of the island of Oahu. According to latest U.S. Census estimates (2004), the population of the district is 390,000 and that of the county is 900,000. In Hawaii, municipal governments operate only at the county level, and the City & County of Honolulu encompasses all of the Island of Oahu (approximately 600 square miles). Hawaii has obvious appeal, and while living costs can be high, the Honolulu area offers a large city surrounded by a beautiful island atmosphere. Honolulu nurses will have the responsibility of serving an entire and large island, and the ability to relax very easily when not serving.
